Liberty Roberts
Liberty Roberts is a partner of Collier-Magar & Roberts, where she focuses on representing public entities, businesses, and insurance carriers. She handles the defense of civil rights claims and employment disputes, business litigation, insurance defense, insurance coverage disputes, contract disputes, and property damage and bodily injury claims. She frequently appears before administrative agencies, such as the EEOC and the Indiana Civil Rights Commission, and in state and federal court.
Liberty has substantial experience in defending civil rights claims filed against public entities, businesses, and individuals. She has represented clients in cases involving search and seizure, the use of force, false arrest, deaths and injuries occurring in county jails, due process, ยง 1983 and other constitutional and statutory civil rights claims, discrimination based on race, sex, disability, age, and speech, retaliation, wrongful discharge, Title VII, FMLA, ADA, ADEA and other complex federal issues.
Liberty is skilled in legal research, writing, and oral advocacy. She has extensive trial litigation experience and is an accomplished appellate advocate. She has argued motions and tried cases in state and federal courts across Indiana. She has represented clients and authored briefs filed in the Indiana Court of Appeals, Indiana Supreme Court, Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court.
Liberty graduated from Franklin College magna cum laude with her Bachelor of Arts in History. She attended Indiana University School of Law – Indianapolis where she had the honor of representing her school in the National Moot Court Competition, serving as a Note Development Editor for the Indiana Law Review, and interning with the Honorable Paul Mathias of the Indiana Court of Appeals. She graduated magna cum laude and earned her Juris Doctor in 2001.
Liberty is actively involved in the local bar and her community. She is a graduate of the Indianapolis Bar Association’s Bar Leader Series, which identifies and prepares lawyers for future leadership roles in professional, political, judicial, civic, and community organizations. She is also a participant in the Stanley K. Lacy Executive Leadership Series, Class XXIV, for emerging young leaders in central Indiana. She proudly serves on the Board of Directors for the FBI Citizens’ Academy Foundation (Indiana Chapter), the Perry Township Education Foundation, and the Character Council of Indiana.
Liberty is an avid runner and travels the country completing multiple marathons a year. She enjoys serving as a running coach for the local YMCA’s Mini Marathon Training program each spring.
